New York, USA, September 20, 2024 Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, has sharply criticized Hezbollah and Iran, saying the UN has ignored their aggression for too long, despite Israel's efforts to defend its territory.
Danon stressed that Israel has repeatedly called on the Security Council to enforce resolutions 1701 and 1551, but these calls have fallen on deaf ears despite Hezbollah's aggressive behavior.
"It is time for Hezbollah and Iran to face serious consequences for their actions. Hezbollah must be disarmed, and Iran must be held accountable for destabilizing the region," the ambassador said, also calling for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be designated a terrorist organization. Dannon described the destruction caused by Hezbollah's attacks on Israel. Since October 8, the group has fired more than 8,000 rockets, killing 46 people, injuring 294 and leaving 60,000 Israelis homeless. In addition, the diplomat claims that the Israeli authorities do not seek escalation in the Middle East region. At the same time, he noted that the situation has reached a critical point.
"We do not want an escalation in the region, we have no intention of entering into a war with Hezbollah and Lebanon, but this cannot continue,"
Dannon said.
The permanent representative warned that if negotiations do not lead to de-escalation, Israel will have no choice and will begin to use "all means" to protect its citizens.
On September 20, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out an airstrike on the Lebanese capital. The target of the attack was a senior Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil. He was responsible for special operations in the group.
Later, the Axios portal, citing an Israeli official, reported that about 20 commanders of the Radwan special forces unit, part of Hezbollah, were killed in an airstrike on Beirut. It was also noted that the Israeli authorities believe that they will not be able to avoid a military escalation to resolve the situation on the border with Lebanon.
After the airstrike on Beirut, the UN expressed extreme concern. The organization called on the participants in the confrontation to exercise maximum restraint.
During his speech at a UN meeting, Danny Danon voiced the horrific facts of terrorist activity since October 7, 2023, on the part of the Palestinian Authority, where Hezbollah is in charge. He repeatedly noted the completely shameful behavior of countries that ignore these facts. Hezbollah terrorists brutally killed more than a thousand Israelis. They killed everyone without distinction of gender and age, killed with sophisticated methods of torture, burned alive, cut alive into pieces, raped and starved.
How can the UN explain its position only by concern about the situation in the region? What is wrong with the UN? For what reasons does the UN make claims not to terrorists, but to Israel, which is forced and obliged to defend itself from terrorism?
Israel did not start this war. Israel did not kill, rape and torture its citizens. Israel has every right to any response to terror!
